Get Android 9.0 P on Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro & Xiaomi Mi A1.

The source code of Android Pie was uploaded on AOP last week after roll-out of official update of Google Pixel / XL and Google Pixel 2 / XL. This meant that the development community could now start working on plying Android devices on third-party devices. Users can definitely wait for official updates, but this is not always a good option for mid-range or budget devices where device manufacturer Android version updates can take time to roll. For example, the mandatory phone is the only phone that has been officially installed on stable Android 9 pie, Android pa beta programs such as OnePlus 6, Nokia 7 Plus, and Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S currently with Beta / Use Alpha Build.

We saw that AOSP Android 9 Pie gets a stable port with all things working on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. This port was then shipped to  Redmi 4X. Separately, Xiammy MI3 / Xiammy Mi4 has also received almost steady Android pipe ports. Now, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro (Device Code-Name: Viread) and Xiaomi Mi A1 (Device Code-Name: Tissot) have received AOP Android 9.0 pie port.

Developers note that hardware encryption is not currently working in both ports. In addition, the AOSP camera is broken in Android pi port for XOomi Mi A1, but users can still use apps like Google Camera or Stock Rome Camera. In addition to the above-mentioned issues, all other functionalities should work.

Users of two Xiamy low mid-range devices who are interested in trying AOP Android 9.0 should check the ROM thread for flashing.
